Soft contact lenses – also known as hydrophilic – are the most popular type of contact lens. They are thin and soft and fit to the shape of the eye, making them comfortable to wear. They are made out of oxygen permeable material, and allow air to reach the eye. This is important to keep the eye healthy. Soft contact lenses are larger than rigid contact lenses. They cover the entire iris, reaching the sclera. This type of contact lens is available for daily, bi-weekly, monthly or continuous use. Soft contact lenses can be bought in different colours, to change the appearance of the iris.
